Aberdeenshire Singer Adele Henderson Selected as First Live Artist for AON: THE GATHERING
Aberchirder and Aberdeen, Scotland
Aberdeenshire singer Adele Henderson has been selected as the first live artist for AON: THE GATHERING, the live performance programme associated with the Finn Moray project, created and written by Finn Moray, the artistic pseudonym of songwriter and producer David Sheret.
Mum of two Adele, 33, who grew up, and stays, in Aberchirder in Banffshire, will be the first artist chosen to carry a song from AON on stage, performing Foggie, a track written by Finn Moray about the village and its people. Her selection marks a significant moment for the project, offering early proof that its Social Compact, built on finding talent, fairness, place and community benefit, is already working in practice. The song and the project were showcased on BBC Radio Scotland Off The Ball with Tam Cowan and Stuart Cosgrove on Saturday 24th January 2026.
Finn Moray launched on 15th December 2025 and, in a short time, has received rave reviews and sold the album to listeners across the world. At its heart is AON: THE CALL, a collection of original songs written about the people and places that have shaped the songwriter’s life, forming a living musical map of Scotland.
The album includes songs about towns and regions such as Darvel, Lerwick, Yetholm, Cumbernauld, Aberdeen, Dunbeath, Dunfermline, Aberchirder, Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Ayr and Inverness, alongside tributes to figures who have left a lasting imprint on Scottish cultural life, including Sir Billy Connolly, Sir Alex Ferguson and Stuart Adamson. Each song is rooted in place and memory, and each is linked through a Social Compact that commits fifty percent of net profits to be returned directly to Scottish communities, cultural causes and underfunded local initiatives.
Rather than relying on industry networks, AON: THE GATHERING is designed to uncover singers who are genuinely connected to the places the songs represent. Adele’s name emerged through local recommendation and community connection, reflecting the project’s belief that talent often sits quietly within communities, waiting to be found.

For Adele, the moment has been both deeply personal and humbling.
“Foggie is where I grew up and where I still feel most at home,” she said. “My family are here, my pals are here, and it’s a place where people really do look out for each other. When I first heard the song, it gave me shivers. I felt a huge sense of pride that someone had written a song about Foggie and that I had been trusted to sing it. I hope that when people from here listen to it, they feel proud of the village and feel that connection to the place and the people who shaped it.”
Her connection to the song runs beyond geography. Raised around family businesses, school shows and community events, Adele’s musical life has always been intertwined with people and place. Being asked to give voice to Foggie carries both pride and responsibility.
David Sheret said Adele’s selection reflects the core purpose of the project.
“Finn Moray exists to write songs about real places, find the voices that belong to them, and make sure any success is shared back with the communities that inspired it,” he said. “There is extraordinary talent across Scotland, particularly in villages and towns that are rarely given a platform. Given the chance, people shine. Adele’s voice carries Foggie in it. You can hear the warmth, authenticity and belonging. That cannot be manufactured.”
Under the Social Compact, fifty percent of net profit from the project is committed to good causes in the regions connected to Finn Moray, including Foggie. An additional twenty-five percent is assigned to the artists who perform on AON: THE GATHERING. This artist pot is shared equally among the singers selected to record the songs so that each participant receives a clear and fair percentage that reflects the number of artists involved. It is what Finn Moray stands for at heart.
The project has already begun to find a wider cultural footing. Finn Moray is now the official intro music for AB TV, the Aberdeen FC focused podcast hosted by former Bad Boys Inc singer Ally Begg, now one of Scotland’s leading podcasters, bringing the sound of AON, including the anthemic Two Stars On Our Chest, to a broad weekly audience. In addition, The Bard #2 has been adopted as the official song of the Scottish Football Supporters Association for this year’s World Cup, reflecting the project’s ability to sit naturally within Scotland’s everyday cultural life, from village halls to football terraces.
With fourteen songs still to cast, AON: THE GATHERING is now actively searching for the next local voices to carry their own places on stage, turning a Scottish album into something rarer: a shared act of pride, remembrance and renewal. Each singer is not just performing a track, they are representing a town, a village, a coastline or a street corner, and helping direct real money back into the communities that shaped the story. We are now inviting recommendations and submissions from singers with a genuine connection to the remaining locations: Darvel, Lerwick, Yetholm, Cumbernauld, Aberdeen x 2, Dunbeath, Dunfermline, Glasgow x 2, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Ayr and Inverness. The first selection in Aberchirder has shown what is possible when talent is found where it lives; the next fourteen will complete a living musical map of Scotland, and a story of hope that readers can take part in.
